Charles who kindly suggests in his foreword that the book ‘provides a deep analysis and clear guidance to help practitioners develop effective social game-based learning solutions’.

The guide starts by explaining exactly what GBL is and why there is so much interest in it. It goes on to review the quantitative and qualitative evidence for the effectiveness of GBL which includes 3 recent case studies in which the author was directly involved.

The guide then proposes a systematic approach to planning and designing effective GBL projects covering 4 key stages:

2. GBL Design
3. GBL Testing
4. GBL Execution
